Filling the Gap NFP

Statement of Faith

We believe in one God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
(Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19-20; John 14:9-10)

We believe God is Creator, Sustainer and Ruler of all things.
(Genesis 1:1; Acts 17:24--28,Colossians 1:13-20)

We believe in Jesus Christ, perfectly God and perfectly human, God's only Son and Savior of the world.
(John 3:16; Matthew 1:18; John 20:24--31, Hebrews 1:1-4, 2:17-18)

We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within each believer so that they may dwell in unity with Christ and other believers as well as produce good fruit.
(John 16:5-16; Ephesians 4:1-6; Galatians 5:22-26)

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for all matters of faith and practice.
(Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16)

We believe that humanity willfully sinned and as a result is lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.
(Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:7)

We believe Jesus Christ has by his death on the cross made atonement for all so that each one who believes may be saved and receive the gift of eternal life.
(Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:8-11; Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16-17)

We believe salvation comes through the person of Jesus Christ, repentance of sin, acknowledgment of Christ as Lord, and union to the church as the body of Christ.
(Luke24:45-47; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-7, 10:10-17; 2 Peter 3:9; Ephesians 4:1-7)

We believe in a final judgement of all humanity and that each person will be accorded eternal life or death according to the Word of God.
(Romans 8:10--11; Daniel 12:2; John 6:47; 1 Corinthians 15:51-57, Revelations 20:11-15)

We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the reason Filling the Gap, NFP exists.
We purpose and strive to listen for and follow the will of Jesus Christ every day in all we do.

We believe that God has directed us to help others in need. (Matthew 25:35-36).

We believe God has commanded us to help those who have no home and cannot support themselves. ““If one of your brothers [or sisters] becomes indigent and cannot support [themselves], help [them,] the same as you would a foreigner or a guest so that [they] cancontinue to live in your neighborhood.” (Leviticus 25:35, the Message). God commands us to
provide for those who lack: “For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:35-36 NIV).

We believe the bold words in the previous verse command us to meet the needs of those who have no place to stay.

We believe that when we “love our neighbors as ourselves,” our lives are enriched. (Mark 12:31)
The same is true when we graciously give our own time and resources to help others in need.
“Give and it will be given to you.” (Luke 6:38).
We are blessed when we give to and serve the poor.
(“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what
they have done” Proverbs 19:17; “Those who give to the poor will lack nothing” Proverbs 28:27).
Jesus himself commands us to care for the poor (“Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.” Matthew 5:42).

We believe that partnering with churches and other faith-based and humanitarian organizations
maximizes our ability to serve the unhoused and unsheltered and enables our partners to provide more sustainable community development.

We believe in prayer – prayer protects the clients we serve and helps to positively change all of our lives.

We are committed to supporting long-term programs and solutions for the unhoused, the unsheltered, and those whose struggle to maintain adequate housing because of life’s circumstances.

We are committed to providing our employees, volunteers, and ministry partners a satisfying environment in which to work and serve others that honors Christ and seeks to exemplify the Christian principles of love, compassion, humility, servant leadership, and accountability.

We are firmly Christ-centered, therefore we seek to serve all people of all faiths, or of no faith.

We provide service unconditionally.

We strive to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.
Through our actions, we strive to help people encounter the love of Christ.

This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Filling the Gap, NFP’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our board of
directors shall be the organization’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
